ITIL - Best PracticesITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) is an international reference defining the required procedures for an IT technology management centered on the user and on the service concept (IT Service Management). ITIL is based on the companies Best Practices, collected by CCTA (Central Computing and Telecommunications Agency) assisted by associations like itSMF. It is a public method, not privately owned, which is neither linked to a provider, nor to a product.
ITIL is based on the collective experience of international consultants
in the field of public or private IT projects. This coherent and reliable
approach has become a de facto standard popular with the major participants

The first ITIL elements were published in 1989 by the British CCTA (Central Computer & Telecom Agency).
